Nehal Wadhera's New Journey with Punjab Kings
New Delhi [India], April 11: Nehal Wadhera is ready to start a fresh chapter in his Indian Premier League (IPL) career, joining the Punjab Kings (PBKS). The left-handed batsman, known for his impressive performances, is thrilled to have the chance to play for his home team with enthusiasm and dedication.
“This year, I’ve joined Punjab Kings, and I’m really looking forward to playing for my home team," Wadhera shared on JioHotstar.
“Playing for your local team is a unique experience for any athlete. When I was selected by Punjab Kings, it was an incredible moment–I felt truly emotional," he expressed.
Having gained experience over two IPL seasons, Wadhera is focused on making this season a standout one.
“I’m eager to contribute and help Punjab Kings lift the trophy this season," he stated. “In the previous two IPL seasons, I concentrated on enhancing my weaknesses–specifically the shots and deliveries that challenged me. My goal is to achieve greater success this year and hopefully make it a breakthrough season," he added.
Wadhera has also been performing well in domestic cricket, which he aims to carry over into the IPL.
“We qualified for the domestic season in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, and the Punjab team did exceptionally well. My preparation was solid, and overall, it was a successful domestic season for me," he noted.
The 23-year-old attributes his rapid development to the IPL experience.
“The last two years in the IPL have been crucial for my growth," Wadhera remarked.
“This year, my expectations are in line with my role–it’s about stepping up for the team during critical moments and helping us progress," he added.
With a mature outlook for his age, Nehal Wadhera has scored 114 runs in three matches, boasting an average of 57 and a strike rate of 156.16, including a notable fifty with a score of 62 against Rajasthan Royals (RR).
The PBKS team currently holds the fourth position in the IPL 2025 points table, having won three out of four matches, accumulating four points. Their upcoming match is against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad on Saturday.
